Meet Our Veterinarians

Growing up in Fair Oaks, California, Dr. Kyle Hacia was raised in a household surrounded by a variety of pets that first fostered his passion in science and caring for animals. “At a young age, I had a personal experience with a veterinarian who was treating my dog for a life threatening chronic condition. Witnessing the impact her care had, not only on our beloved dog but on the entire family, allowed me to realize the vital role a veterinarian plays in preserving the human-animal bond that we all cherish as pet owners”. This eye-opening experience was instrumental in shaping Dr. Hacia’s passion for veterinary medicine.

That inspiration continues to resonate with Dr. Hacia in his committed treatment of his patients with an emphasis on empathy and compassion. “Pets have always been integral members of my family and I aspire to promote that bond in every relationship I develop with my patients and owners.” 

Dr. Hacia is privileged to cultivate these relationships with the animals and owners of his childhood community. “My goal is to create a stress-free environment for pets and owners alike. I believe that attention to client education enables owners to feel confident when making decisions regarding their animals’ care”.

Before returning to the area, Dr. Hacia obtained a B.S. in Biology from the University of California Santa Cruz. He remained in the Santa Cruz area and worked as a veterinary technician for four years prior to attending veterinary school. Dr. Hacia is a graduate of St. George’s University School of Veterinary Medicine and completed his clinical year at the University of Georgia. General practice allows Dr. Hacia to explore a variety of fascinating disciplines that medicine encompasses but he has a particular passion for internal medicine, cardiology, and soft tissue surgery.

When not at SBAH, Dr. Hacia enjoys spending time with his extended family that still reside in the Sacramento area. He also enjoys camping, hiking, and fishing with his childhood friends and his companion, Buddy, the Cocker Spaniel. 

Dr. Angielee DiNinni grew up in California and graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a degree in Psychology. She enjoyed working for several years as a veterinary assistant in a leadership role prior to graduating with honors from the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine. She then completed the prestigious University of Pennsylvania Small Animal rotating internship, which provided a breadth of experience as a doctor in areas including Internal Medicine, Emergency/ICU, and individual specialities within the field.

Dr. DiNinni enjoys that general practice cultivates lifelong relationships with you and your furry family members, and she has a special interest in both preventative care and helping improve quality of life through best management of complicated, chronic diseases. She believes that empowering you through client education enables you to make the best decisions for your family and feel confident in the health of your pets.

Dr. DiNinni lives with her husband, two fabulous dogs, one cat, several chickens, and two ducks!  She enjoys frequent tent camping, boating, visits with extended family, and projects around the house from woodworking to brewing beer. She has completed many major road trips back and forth across the country and all over to national and state parks! 

Dr. Wicht grew up in the Santa Cruz mountains where she fostered her love of animals. She grew up always having dogs and cats in the house as well as some horses and rabbits. Her grandmother taught her how to care for all animals with lessons on hatching and caring for baby quail until they were able to be released as well as saving monarch caterpillars to allow them to transition to butterflies. She graduated from San Jose State University with a degree in Biology: Systems Physiology. After college, she spent some time working at different veterinary hospitals to broaden her experiences including small animal general practice, emergency, specialties including surgery and cardiology, as well as an equine practice. She then graduated with honors from Western University of Health Sciences Veterinary College in Southern California.

Dr. Herrgesell is a second-generation veterinarian who completed his doctor of veterinary medicine and radiology training at the University of California, Davis. He has served on the faculty at UC Davis for 8 years as a lecturer and clinical radiologist.

He is well known on the national continuing education circuit for radiology and ultrasound training, and in 2005, he was awarded the Norden Distinguished Teaching Award at UC Davis. He continues to speak internationally on topics related to small animal radiology and ultrasound.

Dr. Dimock graduated with her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from University of Californiam Davis in 2006. She went on to practice at a clinic in Bend, Oregon before returning to Davis in 2008 to complete the board certification exam and residency, becoming a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Radiology in 2011. She joined Veterinary Medical Imaging at that time.

Professionally Dr. Dimock takes a special interest in abdomina ultrasound, advanced imaging (CT and MRI), and equine imaging. Outside of work, Dr. Dimock enjoys traveling, hiking with her dog, and caring for her small goat herd.

Dr. Long attended California State Polytechnic University, San Luis Obispo, where he concentrated in animal sciences and biology. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of California, Davis, where he earned a bachelor of science degree in veterinary sciences. Dr. Long received his doctor of veterinary medicine degree from UC Davis in 1994.

Following veterinary school, Dr. Long completed a mixed animal internship in medicine and surgery at the Country Veterinary Clinic in Live Oak, California. He then completed a 4-year residency program in radiology at UC Davis, leading to board certification as a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Radiology. For 5 years he was a clinical instructor at the UCD Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital.

Dr. MacKie received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Washington State University in 2005. Following graduation, he completed a one-year rotating internship in small animal medicine and surgery at VCA Sacramento Animal Medical Group in Sacramento, California. After his internship, he moved to the University of Wisconsin-Madison to complete his residency training in Cardiology from 2006-2009. During his time there, Dr. MacKie helped implement the use of the Amplatz Canine Ductal Occluder for non-invasive treatment of a congenital heart disease, authored a paper on the use of an implantable ECG monitor for the evaluation of fainting in dogs, and assisted in prospective research on pulmonary hypertension and cardiac biomarkers.

His clinical interests include, but are not limited to clinical cardiology such as echocardiography and electrocardiography (ECG), pulmonary hypertension in dogs, syncope (fainting) associated with heart disease and arrhythmias, congenital heart disease, arrhythmias, and congestive heart failure (CHF). His goal in therapy for your pets is to maintain an exceptional quality of life for his patients with heart disease.

Dr. Vida is a graduate of the University of California at Davis School of Veterinary Medicine. He completed a small animal medical and surgical internship at the Veterinary Specialty Hospital in San Diego, CA before returning to UC Davis to complete a residency in small animal surgery. He then worked as a clinical instructor in the surgery department at UC Davis before entering private practice in the Sacramento area. Dr. Vida’s special interests cruciate ligament disease (TPLO, CBLO, Arthrex TightRope system), limb deformities, vascular anomalies, oncologic surgery and minimally invasive surgery such as arthroscopy, thoracoscopy and laparoscopy.

During his free time, Dr. Vida enjoys almost all outdoor activities including running, biking, skiing, hiking, kayaking and scuba. He is particularly attached to his 200 gallon reef tank and spends as much time as possible with his wife, kids and pets.
